Light up the Hill
Following our exciting project "Why are we called Brigantia Hill Fort", we were invited by the Friends of Wincobank to take part in a workshop where our children made lanterns to be used in a community event - Light up the Hill.
Year 6 parents were invited into the school day to join in the lantern making workshop.
On Monday 13th October, we joined the Friends of Wincobank, parents, pupils and the local community, for a walk up Wincobank Hill with our lanterns.
What an amazing night it was. Stories were told about the Romans meeting Queen Cartimandua, and her dilemma whether to side with the Roman army or join her fellow Britons.
At the end of the walk, we were all treated to hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows back at the Wincobank Chapel.
Thank you to all who arranged Light up the Hill. We can't wait for next year....lanterns at the ready!
